This committee plans and holds our popular Meet & Greets throughout the State, as well as coordinates all member retention and recruitment efforts. This committee also houses our CLE Sub-Committee and our Legal Professionals Subdivision.
Continuing Legal Education Seminars (CLEs): As a benefit of being a member, the NMHBA offers high quality continuing legal education seminars at a low cost. CLEs are offered throughout the year on a variety of subjects. Past topics have included wage theft, immigration, tips for achieving an ethical practice and aspects of mediation. Past presenters include practitioners, district court judges and a New Mexico Supreme Court justice. The NMHBA has offered its CLEs in Albuquerque and in Las Cruces. In the future, the NMHBA hopes to expand its program and offer CLEs to its members in other parts of the state.
Meet and Greet Events: Statewide outreach is one of the NMHBA's main goals. Recognizing that many events in the legal community are held in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, the NMHBA is committed to serving its members in other parts of the state. The NMHBA does this by hosting "meet and greet" events around New Mexico. In the past, the NMHBA has hosted "meet and greet" events in Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Los Lunas and Taos. Plans are in the works for events in Roswell and Farmington. In addition to its own members, the NMHBA invites members of the judiciary in those communities, as well as other community and business leaders to attend. The meet and greets have been very successful, providing members in other parts of the state with networking and community development opportunities. The NMHBA aims to hold the meet and greets in conjunction with CLEs and statewide high school outreach events in those communities.
